Hello There:
I had a question about SNMP configuration fof Cisco ACI. Is the configuration of SNMP for LEAF/SPINE only or also for APIC itself when we setup SNMP in APIC?
The problem I had when the SNMP configuration given in the APIC and download to SPINE and LEAF, SNMP may work for both SPINE and LEAF. However APIC itself may not detect by SNMP server. Which mean, SNMP can not get information from APICs.
Is my logic correct that SNMP configuration on APIC only for SPINE and LEAF? If we need monitoring APIC with SNMP, it need setup on CIMC?
Thanks

Hey @NeilDeng
Is the my logic correct SNMP configuration on APIC only for SPINE and LEAF?
Not just only for spines and leafs, but primarily for the ACI fabric elements (like, Tn, BDs, APs etc.) that the APIC manages. It's not a complete solution for monitoring the APIC's OS or hardware.
If we need monitoring APIC with SNMP, it need setup on CIMC?
Yes, that's the best practice for comprehensive APIC monitoring. To monitor the APIC's hardware health (CPU temp, fan status, power supplies), you should configure SNMP on the CIMC. This is separate from the fabric-wide SNMP configuration you do within the APIC's GUI.
Hope This Helps!!!
