I currently have CCNP routing & switching but will expire Feb 2016. Can you please advise what is the next track. especially with the evolving of ACI and SDN market.

Hi Othman,

I would recommend checking out the Network Programmability specialist certifications offered through Cisco. Here is a link with more info:

And here are the three exams I'm referring to:

• Cisco Network Programmability Developer Specialist
• Cisco Network Programmability Design Specialist
• Cisco Network Programmability Engineer Specialist

Some of them have the CCNP as a requirement but that should be fine for you considering you have the CCNP R&S already.

I would also advise you to check out the CCNA and CCNP Cloud exams as those might be more geared to your interests.

From the website:

"Cisco Professional-level certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

• Pass any current 642-XXX Professional-level or any 300-XXX Professional-level exam, or
• Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or
• Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
• Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications 
• Achieving or recertifying any of the certifications above automatically extends your active Associate and Professional level certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved."

So it appears as though passing the CCNP Cloud certification will keep yours valid. You also have the option to pursue the CCIE Data Center.
