Hi, long time Cisco User here,
I am busy looking into replacing Nexus 5672up and 5648q switches in both Computerrooms.
The thing is that the company doesn't has that much switches. In short : 2 switches with the help of a few FEXes are more then enough for our needs.
Now, I was looking into Cisco ACI and got really interested. BUT the smallest leaf/spine architecture is still 2 times more switches then needed. Now, it seems that Cisco has a spline (collapsed leaf/spine) switch in the making? That's hearsay though... Wondering how far this is away. Dell seems to have them, Arista will soon...
For me this would be huge! As well as many other enterprises, I guess. Going from 8 to 4 switches, together with the new virtual APIC's. That would make ACI financially viable, I think...
Thx in advance,
Mario
