flooding to unknown destination- question

In attached scenario leaf 103 continues to forward multicast to spine 202 over another ftag tree where spine 202 is the root.

Could someone explain whats the need to do so as spine 201 would have already sent multicast frame to all leaf switches.

Also wouldnt it create a loop in terms of all leaf receiving duplicates multicast packet from spine 202.

Hi @mustanfakh

You need to be more explicit in what scenario are you referring to.

Also, the image is not very clear because it was modified or something, but what I see the ftag includes link between Leaf103 and Spine202, so it's expected to send the mcast to Spine202, simply because there might be leafs connected only to Spine202 (for whatever reasons, like link failed to Spine201).

And there should be no loops simply because it follows a tree structure.

Take care,

Sergiu
