Span on ACI

Hello Community,

i want to configure Tenant Span on ACI. One requirement for Tenant SPAN is a Layer 3 EPG where the Span Destination is located. But i can not find any Configuration or Best Pratice Guides to this Topic.

Does someone have experience with this and can share it?

A Configuration or Best Pratice Guides would also be helpful.

Best Regards

Patrick

If you are doing tenant SPAN this will be an ERSPAN. Yes, the destination needs to be an IP apart of an EPG with a L3 BD (unicast routing enabled). Basically we need a learned IP in the fabric to actually send the SPAN to.

Tenant SPAN uses an EPG itself as a source while Access SPAN just uses EPG just for a filter.

Config ex:

Hello Micgarc2,

thanks for your helpful Feedback. Under Destination EPG, i have to configure "Source/IP Prefix", is the the Layer3 IP Adresses that is configured under the Layer3 BD acting as Anycast Gateway?

I will let you know when Tenant Span is successfully working :)

Kind Regards

Patrick

This can be any IP. Just need one to set the SRC IP in the IP header of the packet. If the prefix is used the node-id of the source node is used for the undefined bits. ex. prefix.

10.0.0.0/8 on node-101 => src IP 10.0.0.101)

I like using prefix because in the SPAN it makes it nice to see the SPAN is being captured on Leaf101 for example.

Good advice, i will do it the same way.
