ACI EPG Physical Domain association

I have to deploy an EPG on a VPC path, Is it mandatory to associate a Physical Domain to EPG ?

If Yes, Why?

The answer to this depends on a global setting

System > System Settings > Fabric Wide Settings | Enforce Domain Validation

Once set it cant be changed

in general, if you use default "enforce domain validation" your Physical Domain / AAEP / VLAN Pool should match for the static port assigned to EPG.
