Can you configure email notification for primary to backup failover?

I am setting up a few vservers using the primary and backup serverfarm configuration.

I've been asked by our systems admins if there is some way that we can be notified via Email when the primary fails and the backup becomes active, and also when the primary becomes active again and switches off of the backup.

Is there any way for this to be done?

Hi

No , there is no way to do it on ACE. It's possible to do it with ANM (as it can collect necessary information via SNMP/syslog) or basically with any external SNMP/Syslog server which can be set to react on snmp trap/syslog message in some way.

That makes sense. I didn't think there was any mechanism built in.

We are using monitoring software (SNMP). Is there some resource available that shows what I need to do to configure these specific traps so I can get the behavior I am looking for?

This is a set of SNMP traps related to real servers :

snmp-server enable traps slb real

If probe fails , e.g. you will receive a trap with name/ip of server, serverfarm, probe name, etc.
