CE requies SP2?

Hi Guys,

My CE is acting as a transparent proxy ('http proxy outgoing host 10.247.1.63 8080 primary'), which is sitting between my network and a proxy server.

My web broswer has a script that decides wheather to hit a proxy server (8080) or hit direct to webpage.

i understand that if my broswer is required to hit a proxy, it will be redirected to the CE.

1) But if my broswer is to hit direct to webpage (port 80), does it get redirected to the CE too? If not, is it because the request is on port 80 and not port 8080?

I have 2 laptops, 1 with microsoft SP1 and the other SP2. i encountered that with SP1, some website cannot be access but can work with SP2? (particularly, website that are http but redirected to https for login).

2) So is there any requirements for broswer in order for CE to work properly or is this a microsoft issue?

THanks in advance.

Kelvin

Kelvin,

If your browser is not configured to go to the CE as a proxy, then it will not go to the CE by default.

If you have a router running WCCP talking to the CE, then port 80 traffic will go their transparently.

If you are expecting the CE to except proxy traffic, then you would need to have "http incoming proxy incoming 80 8080" or whatever other ports you want the CE to handle for incoming proxy.

Regards

Pete..
