CSM redundancy and multicast

mplatise

Level 1

In the documentation (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801c58a8.html) is noted, that when CSM redundancy is in use, the igmp snooping must be disabled globally.

I wonder if this is really needed. How to control multicast traffic in such environment ? I assume that disabling igmp snooping for FT VLAN is enough.

Thank you for any comments.

The reason for this statement in the documentation is because some problems were encountered during testing time and the solution was to disable igmp snooping.

However, I personally have not disable igmp snooping and have no problem.

You can do your own testing and see what is required for your network.

Regards,

Gilles.
