CSM taking webservers out of service

Hello,

We have 2 cat6513's with sup720's and csm's in FT mode.

We have 3 sun webservers connected to the cat6513's using ipmp. Each server has two nic's, one nic connected to the primary switch and the other nic to the secondary switch.

When I shutdown the ports connected to 2 webservers, the csm detects the failure and takes the webservers service and traffic is forwarded to webserver 3. After approx. 2 minutes, the csm also takes the 3rd webserver out of services without a specific reason.

As probe, we use a tcp port 80 probe.

Does anyone has any idea why the csm's are behaving this way and how to fix it?

Rgds, Pieter-Jon

can you ping the server from the CSM when it goes down ?

Is there an ARP entry for this server in the CSM ?

Is the switch cam table correct for the server mac address ?

Can you reach the server from another device ?(ie: MSFC?)

If all this is correct, we will need to capture a sniffer trace on the server to see what's wrong.

My feeling is that after the arp timeout on the CSM, this one is unable to get a new arp from the last server for unknown reason.

Gilles.
