CSS 11501 and SSL Certificates

I would like to ask more regarding SSL Certificates.

At the moment, our plan is to use only one URL, two web servers running Apache Oracle HTTP server version. We have in between our Cisco Load balancer switch.

Someone from Global Sign tell use wildcard certificates. As far as my information goes about wildcards is that, It could secure multiple sub-domains and 10 web servers depending upon on the supplier compant like yours. Can someone please make it more clear to me as I am doing this kind of stuff first time.

Also, If we do not go towards wildcard certificates, what will be the second option for us?

Do you think that wildcard SSL will be fine for Cisco CCS 11501 model.

Also, in this situation how many server certificates we need.

regards

Khaleefa

You should maybe ask Global Sign what they mean exactly by wildcard.

Normally you associate a certificate with a domain name like www.mycompany.com

Browsers verify that when they browse https://www.mycompany.com they get a certificate with the appropriate name.

If it does not match you usually get a warning.

I assumed wildcard means no specific name but I'm not sure.

However, in your case this does not seem to be necessary.

For the CSS/SSL module it does not matter.

Regards,

Gilles.
