Hi
Can somebody explain what App session is used for?
What redundancy modes is it required with? CCO seems doesn't have much of info on the App session.
Thanks

app is not mandatory.
You need if you want to synch the config between active and standby.
if you do GSLB you will also need APP.
APP is actually a protocol to exchange data.

Is it independent from a redundancy mode used?
Is it used for user session state sync's in ASR configuration?

Hi,
An APP session is used between two CSS switches for maintaining redundancy. The CSS esentially uses VRRP for the redundancy.
It is esentially used for box-to-box redundancy.

Is it required for state synchronization between two CSS boxes when ASR mode is used?
Does commitVipRedundancy use APP session to sync configs? What's the difference between regular APP session and App-udp?

the APP session is only used for config sync and nothing else.
It does not matter what redundancy you have configured.
ASR uses its own protocol over the ASR link for replicating connections and sticky table.
Again, APP is not needed here.
Gilles.
