DRE CACHE EXCEEDS HIGH WATERMARK of 95%

Hi,

We have a WAAS system installed on some of our sites, but there's a particular one with 300GB drive that is currently has only 3% free on the Dre Cache. The system is configured to flush cache when it's reaches the 95% mark and stop at 90%, however is the disk is still filling up. This happened previously and we upgraded the WAAS boxes to version (4.2.1), this does not seem to have cured the issue. It can be temporarily cured by rebooting the affected WAE, however that simply clears the whole cache and then it has to be slowly recreated.

Hi

DRE cache is used in the process of optimization. Hence you want your DRE cache to be utilized to the maximum extent.

Seeing DRE cache utilization at 98% is correct. After that level, any stale cache will go through an eviction process.

If you see 99% utilization then there is a problem - a memory upgrade procedure has not been followed correctly would be my diagnosis.

So the behavior you are seeing  - which is DRE cache filling up is normal.
