Hi,

Could anyone give me some advise of WAE-612?

Could the device be used as an enterprise proxy server (400+ accounts)?

Functions we need:

  • Internet      access control based by time and categories;
  • Comprehensive      daily and monthly reports;
  • Full      integration with our existing MS Active Directory;

Regards,

Nakkamon

Nakkamon,

if you are using your WAE with Cisco Wide Area Application Solution (WAAS), it is not a proxy.

If you have users working in branch offices and are using an internet breakout, the WAN traffic can be optimized and could/will be stored on the WAE devices in cache.

Thus when visiting the same pages again or other users visiting these pages,  they will build up much faster.

chris

If I use WAE-612 with ACNS Software, can i do WAE as proxy server?

Nakkamon,

Check this guid for setting up ACNS box as a standalone device (~proxy) -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/acns/v55_13/configuration/local/guide/exdeploy.html

Check the duide for monitoring capabilities as well - depending on your requirements, you will be able to see if this suits you or not.

As for AD integration, check http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/acns/v55_13/configuration/local/guide/conauth.html

HTH,

Amir

Nakkamon,

additionally I'd like to advise to contact your Cisco account team for a discussion on ACNS.

Best Regards,

chris
