In a 6509 running IOS 12.2(17a)SX3, I have WCCP configured and when I do 'show ip wccp' this is part of the output:
Global WCCP information:
Router information:
Router Identifier: 164.72.232.129
Protocol Version: 2.0
We are using a NetCache device which is on another segment connected to the 6509 router different from 164.72.232.129. The NetCache is addressed as 164.72.49.253/25. The 6509 router interface connected to that segment is addressed as 164.72.49.129/25. There is nothing on the 164.72.232.xxx subnet that has anything to do with WCCP - but the WCCP protocol grabs that interface as the WCCP Route Identifier.
How do I get the WCCP Route Identifier to use 164.72.49.129 instead of 164.72.232.129 - or does it even matter>

you can't change it and normally this is ok since it does not matter.

Thanks Gilles - Is the router identifier used in WCCP for anything other than telling the content engines what router is participating in WCCP?
