there is no snmptrap support on the GSS currently.
You will have to use syslog.
Moe.GSS1.com(config)#logging host ?
enable Enable remote logging
ip IP address of host
priority Priority level when log to host
subsystem Set subsystem level logging severity

Gilles.

Given that the GSS actually runs Redhat Linus with a UCD-SNMP agent, isn't there a work-around like setting the trap destination directly in a config file?

unfortunately there is no workaround.
Several customers requested the snmp traps and it is apparently on the roadmap.
If you really need this feature you should ask your Cisco sales representative to contact the GSS product manager.
