Hi,
We are using Cisco ACE 4710 with the Admin and one other context defined.
We are both logging to syslog servers and to the local buffer for both contexts.
Currently only a few lines are logged in the Admin context buffer. When I issue a show logging command I get the following output:
ACE1/Admin# show logging
Syslog logging: enabled
Facility: 23
History logging: enabled (level- warnings)
Trap logging: enabled (level - information)
Timestamp logging: enabled
Fastpath logging: disabled
Persist logging: disabled
Standby logging: disabled
Rate-limit logging: disabled (min - 0 max 100000 msgs/sec)
Console logging: enabled (level - critical)
Monitor logging: enabled (level - warnings)
Logging to x.x.x.x udp/514
Logging to x.x.x.x udp/514
Device ID: hostname "ACE1"
Message logging:
Buffered logging: enabled (level - information) maximum size 4096
Buffer info: current size - 4096 global pool - 1048576 used pool - 1048576
min - 0 max - 4096
cur ptr = 2202 wrapped - yes
If I issue the same command in the other context I get the following information:
ACE1/CONTEXT# show logging
Syslog logging: enabled
Facility: 23
History logging: enabled (level- warnings)
Trap logging: enabled (level - information)
Timestamp logging: enabled
Fastpath logging: disabled
Persist logging: disabled
Standby logging: disabled
Rate-limit logging: disabled (min - 0 max 100000 msgs/sec)
Console logging: enabled (level - critical)
Monitor logging: enabled (level - warnings)
Logging to x.x.x.x udp/514
Logging to x.x.x.x udp/514
Device ID: hostname "ACE1"
Message logging:
Buffered logging: enabled (level - information) maximum size 1044480
Buffer info: current size - 1044480 global pool - 1048576 used pool - 1048576
min - 0 max - 1044480
cur ptr = 73251 wrapped - yes
It seems like the log buffer for the Admin context is only 4096 bytes and in the other context it is 1044480 bytes. Is there a way to specify the buffer size for the different contexts?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Harry

Harry,
the logging buffer is a resource.
Like all other resources, you can allocate a min and a max.
switch/Admin(config-resource)# limit-resource buffer syslog ?
minimum Set minimum limit
Gilles.
