Novell routing "Tree not found" error

Hi;

I'm (East Coast) working with a colleague (West Coast) in cleaning up his LAN. Currently, he has no IP address space left on his LAN, and he also doesn't have a layer three switch.

To address these issues, we have created a L2 VLAN on his 5509, and I have configured a spare interface on his 2691 router to route traffic between this newly created VLAN and his existing IP saturated VLAN. We're using RFC1918 addresses for this new VLAN.

Now, IP routing works fine, but I'm thrown for a loop when I learn that this location has Novell services and the users that will be moved into this new VLAN will need to login to this Novell server from this new VLAN.

I'm told that the login error reads "Tree not found".

Does anyone know anything about this error and what the solution is?

Here is my interface info.

interface FastEthernet1/0

description Inside LAN

ip address 172.31.29.5 255.255.255.0

ip helper-address 200.235.110.10

ip nat inside

speed 100

full-duplex

end
