Pausing ACE probes at a certain time.

Hello;

I have an interesting issue with a configuration on the ACE module running A2_3_4 code.

I have a server farm consisting of two servers and they are running SSL certificates under IIS. I am using a probe to verify if IIS & SSL is running.

probe https PROBE-NAME

ip address 0.0.0.0

interval 20

passdetect interval 10

expect status 200 200

Every night they run a script to stop the data base on the servers to take a SNAP backup. After the SNAP backup they start the databases and execute the IISRESTART command to have a clean start of IIS when the database is running.

The issue is: when the probes are running against the servers the WWW service fails to restart. If I stop the probes the WWW service starts correctly.

Any ideas?

Is there a way to write the probe so that it is suspended at a certain time during the night?

Thanks

Hello,

Currently, there´s no command to configure what you are looking for. Since the nature of the probes is to check the status of the service constantly, that would be the opposite but it will be nice if a https probe would have that type of feature you mentioned. Perhaps you can talk to your Cisco SE engineer for a

enhancement request for future software version

Regards,

Hello Jorge.

Yes that would be a good enhancement.

Are you familiar with writing probes in TCL? I know that some of the supported functions is clock and time. I do not know how to write a TCL script but I would think if the standard probes are written using TCL then it could be modified to take advantage of that feature to pause during a certain time.
