Is it possible in transparent proxying for the content engine to forward the requesting clients IP address (for bandwidth management purposes) in case the requested object is not in the cache. This would allow a bandwidth manager upstream to regulate the bandwidth as is necessary.

HI,

I guess you are using wccp for achieving transparent caching.

You can achieve your goal, if I understood it correctly, by spoofing the client ip addresse.

Refer to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/conntsw/ps491/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080131e52.html#96151

and search for wccp spoof-client-ip enable

Hope that helps

Kind Regards

Joerg
