The upgrade process for ANM virtual appliance 4.2 involves doing a backup and restore as root user. I have looked through the documentation and have even reinstalled the virtual appliance to see if the install script gives away the root password for the OS but without luck.
Can anyone tell me how to set/find the root password?

HI,
For ANM 4.2 Virtual Appliance(VA), you do not require a root password to do backup and restore. The documentation you referred to is for ANM on a redhat box.
ANM VA is a closed environment for customers. The only access available is IOS type CLI access via SSH.
Here's the document you need to use
Hope this answers your question. if not, please let me know
Thanks

VK,
Thanks for the reply! Now that I read the manual again I got the hang of it. I guess I mixed up the Apliance and the Red Hat based server because there is a section speaking about backing up a Linux server and restoring the backup to an appliance.
