VIP and servers on same IP space

I have 2 web servers, 172.16.10.80 & .81, and a CSS11154 connected to a Cat2950. The CSS's VIP address for the web servers is 172.16.10.95. My problem is no device within or outside this segment can access the web servers utilizing the VIP address. Originally, I had the servers directly connected to the CSS and the VIP worked but when I needed to transfer large quantities of data directly to the servers the throughtput was extremely bad so I moved the servers to the Cat2950.

HI,

sounds as if the return flow is directed to the server and not to the CSS. This breaks the flow. Please verify this with a sniffer. If this is the case you have to do client NAT (i.e use the VIP as source address). An example can be found in the following link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps792/products_configuration_example09186a00802206a3.shtml.

Regards,

Joerg
