Hello,
We recently implemented WAAS for a customer of ours, the users are complaining of problems with Microsoft DFS since.
The environment is a single 674 "inline" at the remote site (users) and a single 7341 at the server site. Both running OS 4.1.5F.
Customer states that since WAAS implementation, they are seeing 'backlogs' on their NAS, and response time is unacceptable.
Removing the 674 from the path fixes the issue. Questions we have -- are there any known issues with WAAS and DFS? Do we need to
set the DFS traffic to passthru? Searching for waas and dfs in cisco.com has not produced much info. any assistance/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Are they using Access-based Enumeration (ABE) on the file share?
If yes you need to use dynamic shares in the WAE.

Hello Lenny,
Slowness when talking to a NAS can be the result of the NAS not having Level 2 OPlocks enabled.
DFS and WAAS are fully compatible, the only gotcha is when doing prepositioning: there you need to give the 'real' location of the data, not the DFS view. However things like ABE can cause problems.
Best regards, Peter
