does anyone have a doc that describes how WAAS can push email out to the edge when the client isnt on the local network, so when he comes in to work the following day his new email is served from the local WAE?

This can be done by setting exchange to run in non-cache mode. Typical exchange environments cache messages and wait for user to to request mail.
In non cache mode mail will delivered upon receipt at mail server.
So basically you will need to change how exchange / outlook delivers mail

I believe you are thinking of the function of the Riverbed devices. They reverse engineered the MAPI code and they keep the client's Outlook connection open between accelerators and continue to download/cache mail even when the user has disconnected. According to our Cisco SE, this is something that will not be implemented in WAAS code.
