We are evaluating using WAAS along with VMWare VDI to accelerate the virtual dekstop to our branches. Has anyone utilized or tested WAAS with this environment. A VMWare VDI session is basically Microsoft's RDP. Does the "canned" RDP profile in WAAS sufficient ?

We've tested WAAS w VDI (using RDP) extensively w VMware. The results were very good and are posted at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns517/ns224/ns377/white_paper_c11-494994.pdf
Turn the native RDP compression/encryption off so WAAS can fully optimize the traffic. If you are using XP 32 bit, you should apply the MSFT patch at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;956072

VMware and Cisco has preformed extensive performance testing of VMware VDI solution and WAAS. All the information is available on the following link:

When implementing WAAS with VDI disabling the RDP compression/encryption on the client is very important and the way to do it is depended on the client operating system.
If you are running Windows XP 32 bit you will need to apply a hot fix from Microsoft -

Oleh,
Can you confirm what OS you are running? Did you apply the Microsoft hotfix and disable encryption for RDP?

We are running Windows XP PRo SP2. I am pretty sure we are running that hot-fix but I will check again.
