Hello,
In the Data sheet for the WAVE 694 (along with other models) there is the Optimized TCP Connections 2,500 - 6,000.
Can anyone tell me why there are two numbers and what has to change to get from the low number (2500) to the high number (6000) please?
Many Thanks,
Garry.

Garry,
Upgrading the memory on the 694 from the default 16G to 24G will give you the higher connection count.

Mike

Hi Mike,
Ok thanks for the answer.
So when I build the WAAS's and where I want the max TCP connection I will build in the memory upgrade.
Cheers,
Garry.

Hi Mike,
I assume the memory affects the WAN bandwidth as well? i.e. the WAE674 is 45 - 90Mbps. Where 90Mbps is achieved with the memory upgrade?
Regards,
Garry.

Both 694-16G and 24G versions are targeted to the 200Mbps WAN link. However, there is nothing in the system to limit this, and this WAN BW number serves as a guideline.
Cisco WAAS devices are not limited to a specific WAN link capacity by a license. The numbers specified are based on average typical load assumptions. Limitations are based on static system resource limitations and dynamic load factors. Dynamic load factors are based on specific use case scenarios; therefore capacity may be higher or lower depending on actual use. Additionally, Cisco WAAS will continue to optimize connections up to the rated connection capacity. Beyond this capacity, existing active connections will continue to be optimized, and new connections will be handled as pass-through with no optimization until the load applied to the device falls below the rated capacity.
