What is the exact meaning of the statement? Do i need to have WAAS server to be physically direct connect to the WCCP Router? or is it possible to put Switch in between of the WAAS and the router (WCCP Router - L2 Switch - WAAS Server)?

It just needs to be connected in the same layer 2 domain, which can be done via a switch.
