Hi guys,

What does the "=" mean in Cisco part numkber? It seems ther is no difference between the parts with a "=" and the parts without a "=", such as "GLC-SX-MM" and "GLC-SX-MM="

Thanks,

Justin

Hi Justin,

A part with the = sign at the end is what is called a "FRU" part; where FRU stands for "Field Replaceable Units".

Those are the parts that can be used as "spare" or be shipped individually to replace damaged units.

The new parts that are ordered directly from a reseller or from Cisco usually don't come with the = sign.

As example here is the web page that describes the different FRUs for the CSS 11500 series: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/css/11500fru/index.htm

I hope you find this helpful. Thanks!

Jose Quesada.

Thanks Jose. It is just what I need.

Regards,

Justin
