If you set up multiple SMTP routes, the system will cycle through them in a round robin fashion based on number of SMTP connections. However, if you specify multiple hosts in one SMTP route, the blocker will try them in the order you type them. See below:
Receiving Domain | Destination Hosts |
Example.com | 192.168.1.25, 192.168.1.26 |
Per this example, the blocker will deliver to 192.168.1.25 first, and fail over to 192.168.1.26 if for some reason .25 does not respond.
However, if it is done like this:
Receiving Domain | Destination Hosts |
Example.com | 192.168.1.25 |
Receiving Domain | Destination Hosts |
Example.com | 192.168.1.26 |
The blocker will alternate between the destinations. Hope this helps!
