CSCvs18851 - Router goes into a continuous boot-loop.

I have a client who has inadvertently locked his ASR920 into a bootloop. Can't be 100% sure this CSCvs18851 is this issue, but they have been changing software versions.

The unit seems to boot normally but always gets to "FPGA UPGRADE Done: System going for reboot" then reboots. It doesn't matter which OS version you try, it never gets past this point.

I suspect the secure boot has been locked, does anyone know if it's possible to unlock this, perhaps in the rommon?

Cheers

Did the client upgrade, from 17.6.X (and earlier), to 17.12.X (and later)?

Hi, thanks for the reply. The unit was originally running version 03.14.00, he tried to upgrade to 16.9.4.

He has also tried booting 16.7.3 and 17.3.3, but has the same issue.

Further information has come to light. The unit was actually running version 17.03.03. The unit did have an inactive 03.14.00 in the file system though. At this point it looking like they have attempted a downgrade and locked the secure boot.

Did someone attempted a direct upgrade from 17.6.X (or earlier) to 17.12.X (or later)?

The unit was originally running version 03.14.00.

It was upgraded to version 17.03.03 and all seemed fine.

The client then tried to downgrade to version 16.9.4, this is when the boot loop started.

Thanks for that, I did see that there is no workaround on the bug report. Guess this is not a technical issue any more.
