IDRAC and Dell Servers

So I've been on the job for a 6 months now. Nothing that I face on a daily basis was covered in any course or college curriculum. Is any one familiar with IDRAC and the splitting of NIC a port on Dell servers? For instance on an interface of 1000 mbs transfer speed, 100 is allocated for IDRAC and the other 900 mbs is allocated for the other virtual NIC. So the problem is, when IDRAC is set with a static IP, the other virtual NIC is unreachable via ICMP. To make things more confusing, both are set on different Vlans. The port is set up as a trunk port to allow all vlan traffic, but is only recognizing the IDRAC traffic. I've explained this is best as I can, with the information I've been given. I know nothing of Dell switches and the virtual NIC address issues. Does anyone have a clue as to what my server guy is trying to do?
