any idea what is needed for LDAPS AD login? Do i need a cert generated from the AD controller and imported somewhere?

I have not done this myself (someone else in our team did). Assuming you are referring to the Cisco Intersight Virtual Appliance, see Cisco Intersight Virtual Appliance and Intersight Assist Getting Started Guide, 1.0.9, section Configuring LDAP Settings as well as the section on importing certificates that has info on certificates. It looks like it requires a certificate signed/issued by a certificate authority.
