AWS NLB and ISE

Is anyone currently using the NLB with ISE? Does it actually push sessions to different targets from a single WLC. Just trying to understand if it’s worth it. As far as I can see you have to sticky the sessions so it would just use the first node anyway?

Thanks Ned

Hi Demein,

The NLB (Network Load Balancer) feature in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) allows multiple ISE nodes to work together and distribute the load for processing authentication and authorization requests. It provides redundancy and scalability to handle a large number of requests.

In terms of pushing sessions to different targets from a single Wireless LAN Controller (WLC), the NLB feature in ISE does not directly control session pushing to different targets from the WLC. The NLB feature in ISE focuses on load balancing and distributing authentication and authorization requests across multiple ISE nodes.

However, the session pushing to different targets from a single WLC can be achieved using other features and configurations on the WLC itself, such as High Availability (HA) and dynamic VLAN assignment based on user roles. These features can help distribute user sessions across multiple WLCs or different targets based on certain criteria.
