Hi Tech People,
I have problem in my 2 Cisco 9300 Access Switches (C9300-48P-E). The Cisco IP Phone 7821 showing Network Unavailable on the display. One of the port is showing nonconnected/down/down but POE is working on the same port. No Data is passing through the port. we have this problem in multiple switch ports. The current software version Cisco IOS XE Gibraltar 16.12.XX (16.12.0.2). Please share the solution if somebody has this problem in these Switches.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi
What makes you thing this is a switch problem? Does this phone got an IP address? It seems to me that they not. Are they correctly configured with vlans, voice vlans, etc?
Can you share the show running-config?
show cdp nei
show lldp nei

Hi Flavio Miranda,
Thanks for the reply,
Currently we are verifying the Switch ports locally with the Phone, So there is no access switch connectivity established with distribution switch & CUCM .this is a new site. voice and data vlans are configure on all ports.
we have two type of message on the phone display
1- Network unavailable
POE is up & port is down/down, not showing green activity led on the Switch
2-Verifying network Services:
POE is up & Ports is showing green activity led on switch.
this looks to me a software bug i am not sure.

Cisco IOS XE Gibraltar 16.12.XX (16.12.0.2)
is this ever worked ? or new setup ? above code has some bugs.
i suggest to upgrade to 17.3.5 and test it.

Hi balaji,
Thanks for the reply,
this is a new setup and in some ports we are facing this problem (network Unavailable) and no Green led blinking on the Switch). Port showing "notconnected"
we changed the cables and connectors but stills its same. cables are newly terminated and we troubleshoot the infrastructure but same problem even we connected the phone directly on the switch (without Patch panel.)

Do not, ever, use 16.12.X. It is a very buggy and toxic version.
There are many PoE bugs affecting several 16.12.X versions and a workaround of "reload the affected switch member".
Upgrade to 17.3.5.
NOTE: Suspended testing of 17.6.3 because we have found several 0-config bugs (load the firmware on an appliance with no config and the bug appears).

Thanks you LEO for your reply and suggestion.
I can upgrade from 16.12.2 to 17.3.5 but later on i need to upgrade my Prime infrastructure version (from 3.7 to 3.9)
IOS XE 17.3.5 is compatible with 3.9 & 3.10 as you can see below
The following table provides software compatibility information.
Catalyst 9300 |
Cisco Identity Services Engine |
Cisco Access Control Server |
Cisco Prime Infrastructure |
---|---|---|---|
Amsterdam 17.3.5 |
2.7 |

C9300 and C9300L: PI 3.9 + PI 3.9 latest maintenance release + PI 3.9 latest device pack See Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.9 → Downloads. |

if that is required to be in Prime, yes required to upgrade Pi 3.7 to 3.8
any way PI 3.7 EOL, now Cisco support 3.9 or 3.10.
