Cisco ISE HA pair migration

We're currently running an ISE 2.7 HA pair where the primary is a 3515 appliance with a VM secondary node.

We purchased a 3715 appliance and a new VM license. The 3515 and 3715 won't be able to run the same version, but I believe that a backup and restore can work between versions.

Is it recommended in this scenario to run them both in parallel as I migrate, or migrate in steps with only one HA node? For the backup and restore, do I need to keep the hostname identical on both appliances?

I always suggest to Build New System fresh and restore from backup, After testing couple devices you can cut over to new ISE Deployment.

if you using FQDN - rather than IP, then you need to point to new IP of ISE deployment or build new FQDN and make changes as per needs.
