I can't get into ROMMON mode on Cisco 871

Hello, I study for the CCNA, I decided to use real equipment instead of PacketTracer just to see how it works, so I got two routers Cisco 871, but they are password protected.

I try to use Putty but I can't get into ROMMON mode, I can't use the break signal. I can't use it from the keyboard with Ctrl+Shift+6 and also not by clicking with the right mouse button on the top bar and sending special signal (even when holding or not holding down Ctrl).

Is there any way I can get into ROMMON mode? I use brand new RS232 cable, but it's not original from Cisco, I don't know if that's a problem.

Is there a way I can reset the router maybe with the reset button? It also does not seem to work on both routers when I hold it down.

I'm able to enter characters in the password prompt, but I just cannot reset the router.

You can use below sequence to get in to ROMMON.

CTRL+BREAK   or  CTRL+BREAK+F6?
