License Registration

Have two 9500 catalyst switches & planning for stackwise configuration..

Have some doubts regarding license registration...

Do we need to individually registered both devices or it can be done on a standalone switch and when stackwise configuration is done the license will get synced on the secondary device.

Do i need to generate token for each switch or same token can be used for both switches...

Kindly help....

Hello @Ganesh Devarshetty

It requires a separate license for each member in the stack, and you typically need to register the licenses individually for each switch in the stack.

You need to generate a license token for each switch separately. The license token is unique to each switch's serial number. Register the generated license token for each switch on the Cisco Licensing portal. The registration involves associating the license token with the specific serial number of the switchAfter registering the license token, you will receive a license file and apply it to each switch in the stack.

Once the individual licenses are applied to each switch, you can proceed with the StackWise configuration. Assuming the two C9500 has got the same IOS version.

Best regards
