Noob. Looking for packet tracer activity wizard help with ping

I've been thrown in the deep end to make some activity labs ups for a low level class.
I get how to add PDUs to an activity, use variables ect... very cool.

But what if i want the students to use CMD and run a ping from a pc NOT going into simulation mode or have them add pdus.
So simple I know :(
Im looking for how to add that to my activity wizard for the kids and am feeling like an idiot, i must be missing something obvious?
Any youtube links or example tutorials for this specific thing would be wonderful. I gone through a few clips already but none covering this exact request.

not sure in new version of PT 7.x but have you tried enabling "Sim" on Locking tree, see red pic

if you did and did not work, then it may be a bug thing

actually, it is under Interface. On my picture shared above, expend Interface, select and check "switching to simulation mode"
now, test it , it worked for me
