I am attempting to create a simple smoke detection system in packet tracer for a class, using an old car to generate smoke and a smoke sensor and MCU to trigger an alarm/fire sprinkler. I am running into a strange issue. The pre-loaded smoke detector sample works fine, but ONLY within its original file. When I attempt to replicate the exact same system (settings and all) or if I try to copy over all components into a new file, the environmental smoke simulation doesn't work the same. To clarify, here is the sample program:
Reaching a maximum level that is less than 1 even when running for the same amount of time.
Since the same issue is happening with a smoke sensor and programmed MCU, I believe the problem is NOT with the smoke detector component and instead something wrong with the environment/simulation settings. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this and how to fix it? Do I need to use a different version of packet tracer?

I tried to speed up time, but still doesn't work...

Version 9.0.0 - I've seen this problem with the Car Smoke generator and the CO, CO2, and Smoke Detectors. My guess is that it's a container problem where packet tracer doesn't think that the Old Car and the Detector are in the same container. (physical location) although in Logical View they are.
I'm not sure if there's a bug in CPT where if the container path is too deep that the Old Car smoke is never detected?

The straight answer is that Packet Tracer’s environmental simulations are tied to hidden Global Environment settings that don't always carry over when you copy-paste components.
