Secure Client on Linux Debian 12: Authentication failed

Hi,

I'm trying to use Cisco Secure Client Version 5.1.8.105 on a Lenovo Thinkpad E15 laptop, which is running Debian GNU/Linux 12 (Linux 6.1.0-33-amd64 kernel), to access the VPN service at the university where I work. After entering the address of the service in the box next to 'Connect to', I get the error message 'Authentication failed due to problem navigating to the single sign-on URL' (see attached screenshot).

The same error occurs when I use earlier versions of the Secure Client (5.1.5.65 and 5.1.6.103).

The vexing thing is that the Cisco client runs flawlessly on three other linux machines running Debian 12: two that I own, and one virtual machine set up by the university's tech support.

I have absolutely no idea of how/where to begin troubleshooting this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks
-Paul

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using Xfce and Chrome on all three machines,
but I can/will look to see if there are any differences in the installed
software libraries.

Hi @murtaugp ,

collecting a DART Bundle for Cisco Secure Client is a 1st step ... please take a look at: Collect DART Bundle for Secure Client.

Note: please take a look at new Cisco Secure Client software ... for example: Secure Client 5.19.113.

Hope this helps !!!

Thank you, but I don't have a service contract that would allow me to download the diagnostic software, or Secure Client 5.19.113 (5.1.8.105 is the latest available at the university).  At this point it looks like the best "solution" for me would be to wait for Debian 13 to be released this summer, and see if that resolves the problem on this cursed laptop.  In the meantime, my other Debian-12 laptop does run the Secure Client successfully.

Hi @murtaugp ,

 got it !!!

It is always important to download the Deployment Package with the DART.
