Hi,

We use Secure Client 5.1.8.122 and after Windows 11 goes to sleep (after 30 mins of inactivity) on resume the secure client takes around a minute to reconnect to VPN, fails then the whole program stops and i have to open it again to which it connects to VPN in a coupe of seconds, any ideas as to whats going wrong.

Possible Fixes

  1. Disable Sleep for Network Adapter

Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Your Adapter > Power Management

Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

  1. Ensure Cisco Secure Client Service is Set to Auto-RestartPress Win + R, type services.msc

Find Cisco Secure Client Network Access Manager and Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility AgentMake sure both are:

Startup Type: Automatic

Recovery tab: Set First failure, Second failure, and Subsequent failures to Restart the Service

  1. Disable Fast Startup
  2. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do

Click Change settings that are currently unavailable

Uncheck Turn on fast startup

  1. Update or Reinstall Cisco Secure Client

You’re using 5.1.8.122 — ensure this is the latest approved by your organization.

If not, update or reinstall. Sometimes minor version bugs cause reconnection issues.

  1. Check Event Viewer Logs

Look under Windows Logs > System or Application right after resume

See if AnyConnect or related services show crashes or driver load failures
