Hi,

How can I set up my Cisco Webex Room kit to support USB passthrough? Is there any new Java script or a new way to setup the USB passthrough?

Hello, @Mansoor hasan

I’d be happy to guide you through setting up USB passthrough for your Cisco Webex Room Kit! USB passthrough allows you to use the Room Kit as a high-quality webcam with features like SpeakerTrack, Snap to whiteboard, Noise Removal, or PresenterTrack via your preferred video application. Let’s get you sorted:

Hardware Connection:
Connect your computer to the USB-C socket on the Cisco Webex Room USB using a USB cable.
The Room USB supports HD1080p video, so you’re in for a crisp experience!
Software Configuration:
Open your video calling client settings on your computer.
Navigate to the video and audio parameters.
Make sure to select the “Room USB” as your video input source.
Script Deployment (Optional, but Powerful):
If you want to supercharge your setup, consider deploying some scripts. These can turn your Room Kit into a high-end webcam.
Cisco provides specific scripts for this purpose. You’ll need to load them into your Room Kit. Here’s how:
Access the web interface of your Room Kit directly.
Use the macro editor to import the JavaScript file provided by Cisco.
If you’re curious about the details, check out the Cisco Webex Web Interface Setup Guide for USB Passthrough.
Keep These in Mind:
Test your setup before deploying it to other users.
Verify how the system behaves when it goes into standby mode or wakes up.
All installed cameras and microphones should work normally.
Decide on one mute option (either in the application or on the endpoint).
Endpoint settings are saved and restored automatically after exiting USB mode.
Avoid choosing USB speakers; this isn’t a Cisco TAC-supported solution.
Instruct your users well—they’ll appreciate it!.

Remember, you’re turning your Room Kit into a webcam ninja, so wield its powers wisely!

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Best Regard,
