I have recently subscribed to the Cisco Cloud web security product. Our reseller assured us that the subscription would also give us the entitlement to install and use a WSAv appliance on our network.
I have a WSAv virtual appliance installed, but have run in to issues obtaining a licence file for it.
I am unable to complete the licence request in the Cisco licencing portal, as it requires me to enter the Serial Number or Virtual Device Identifier of an existing WSA appliance.
As we don’t have a physical WSA or an existing WSAv I am unable to complete the licence request.
Are we entitled to use a WSAv appliance with our CWS subscription or is this only intended for customers who have already purchased a physical Web Security Appliance separately?
I have been assured by our reseller that we can do this and the product litriture also appears to suggest that, but I cant find any information on how to licence it.
I just thought it was worth checking before I abandon the idea of using a WSAv and go to the effort of buying / building a third party proxy appliance to point at our CWS subscription a upstream proxy.

Hi Matt, yes, if you had purchased the CWS then you are entitled to the WSAv license to use it as a cloud connector. Contact your re-seller and/or your Cisco team to request this.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice Neon.
Sadly in this in this instance it doesn't look like a WSAv licence is no longer included as standard. It looks like the CWS product literature is a bit misleading.
After a an email exchange with the Cisco licencing team it looks like I needed an additional software contract, as well as the CWS subscription to be able to use the WSAv appliance.
Apparently my reseller should have this, although they have sent me everything they have for our account and there is no software contract information.
I presume this is something I should have purchased at the same time as our CWS contract.
After going around in circles with several support departments and getting nowhere I think its time to give up on the idea of using the WSAv product.

Neon is correct. If you already have CWS subscription, WSAv in Connector mode license is included as part of CWS subscription. Please work with your assigned engineer for the license.
