Hi,
newbie question.

As per the cisco document, some fields in the floating part of the packet are optional.   What is meant by optional?
Does it mean that we wont get that field at all or the fields value will be null for so many bytes ?

It will be good if I can view some sample packets

Thanks in advance

You wont get the field at all.

Do you have a dump of a sample packet with floating part ? If yes, please post it.
