Hello,
for testing APIC-EM I discovered a location with 7 * 2960X Switches + 3750X core.
It seems that the Host information on the discovered switches is wrong.
For example: APIC-EM show that 4 Hosts are connected to a switch but 24 ports are up including my own PC I can not find.
What causes this behaviour and how can I fix it ?
Best regards,
Steffen

Hi Steffen,
Hope you are using the 15.2.2E3 Cisco IOS Software Release for the 2960 switches. Are you able to see all the hosts in the topology view.
From the question what I understand is you cannot find your PC in the topology view. As the initial step can you please let us know which version of APIC-EM you are using and is it a standalone deployment.
Thanks and Regards,

I´m using IOS Version 152-2a.E1
APIC-EM version 1.1.0.767
Correct, I can not find my PC nor other devices connected to the switch. Also not in topology view.
There are for example 3 Meraki AP´s connected but the IP is not visible in APIC-EM.

Hi Steffen,
The controller uses ip device tracking to pick up hosts. you should see the hosts that appear in "show ip device tracking all" in the host inventory. Can you ensure that device tracking is enabled.
Thanks and Regards,

I just saw it is not a 2960X Switch but a 2960S…
I checked “device tracking” and it only shows 4 IP Phones.
I disabled device tracking and wanted to re-enable it but it does not work ?!
DE-HAU-HUH-S12#show ip device tracking all
Global IP Device Tracking for clients = Enabled
è After disable and then re-enable (ip device tracking):
DE-HAU-HUH-S12#sh ip device tracking all
Global IP Device Tracking for clients = Disabled

Ok, I found that I have to enable "ip device tracking Maximum {} on per Interface Basis to activate IP Device Tracking on 2960S Switches.
Is there a recommendation / best practice what a reliable Maximum is ?
