In short, there is no documented procedure for a Flex-Pod or vBlock shutdown (that I know of). Hopefully you're not doing this on a regular basis other than relocating HW. Always have fresh backup configs taken from each device proir to any such maintenance.
You'd want to shutdown devices systematically in the logical order - from the inside out.
The order you list is actually the correct order. You start by shutting down VMs which are running on local and/or shared storage. Since all your VEM will continue to pass traffic without the VSMs online, you can shutdown your 1000v as part of the VM shutdown process. Then moving up to the hosts, and then hardware.
When all your blades are shutdown, next to power down would be your chassis and then interconnects. Up from there as long as there's nothing else access storage you can continue with your SAN switches (MDS) and ethernet switches (N5K). When you get to your array, confirm there are no hosts logged in before power it down.
