CISCO 9706 FRU and CRU

Hello All

I am new to CISCO. Recently we bough new SAN CISCO 9706 directors. I am trying to understand which part of these directors are FRU and which one are CRU.

Do anyone has any document reflecting it for this directors.

I hope you are doing great,

Following up to your question, the FRU components of the MDS are:

- The Supervisors

- Switching modules

- Crossbar fabric

- Power supply

- Fan tray

Below I will provide a link for all the steps to replace and install the above modules:

Installing, Removing and Verifying Field Replaceable Units

• Installing Supervisor Modules
• Removing Supervisor Modules
• Installing a Switching Module
• Removing a Switching Module
• Verifying Installation of the Supervisor and Switching Modules
• Installing and Removing a Crossbar Fabric Module
• Installing and Removing a Power Supply
• Installing and Removing Fan Modules

Now the CRU is basically the same components for the FRU. You would get the RMAd components and you can install them, there are other components most likely on UCS servers that are replaced by Field engineers from Cisco but for MDS it is all the same.
