AGI has also been alternatively defined as an autonomous system that surpasses human capabilities at the majority of economically valuable work. Developing AGI is a primary goal of some artificial intelligence research and for several AI companies such as OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT.
The timeline for AGI development remains a subject of ongoing debate among researchers and experts; some argue it may be possible in the coming years or decades, while others maintain it might take up to a century or longer; some believe it may never be achieved at all.
