Hi all,
I have install a virtual app ESA 300v on customer, the system is up and running but the customer is asking if we can run vmware features on the appliance without disrupting the ESA.
Can we make vmware spanshootts on the VM ?
Can we make vmware vmotion on the VM ?
Can we make copy the full vm for backup needs ?
Thanks

You can take/use snapshots of the VM itself once deployed, those can be reverted to if there ever is a need to restore due to corruption, misconfiguration, etc.
VMWare tools are not used/supported - so vMotion is not supported.
Outside of that - you can backup the VM from within ESX. Key thing to keep in mind, do not clone an already licensed vESA, as this will cause updater issues if there are multiple versions of the same serial numbered appliance.

Hi Robert,
I thought that vmware tools also was used to take snapshoots.
Thanks for your reply.
