Each appliance will report it's own individual serial number regardless. You can see from web GUI: Montior -> System Status (right hand column @ top)... or CLI: 'version'
Serial should report from machine level only, and will prompt you at CLI when in cluster mode to return to machine level...
Ex.
(Cluster esa_A-esa_B)> version
This command is restricted to "machine" mode. Would you like to switch to "machine" mode? [Y]>
